WOD - October 5, 2013

I just might be at the Happiest Place on Earth!  No really, I am!

It never gets old!!!!!
I will fill you in on our whole vacation trip (going away with kids is not a vacation!) when I get back - we are having the best time, of course!  But I want this post to be about my workout today because it was a good one!

The hotel we are at has a wonderful, complimentary gym with 24-hour access.  Love that!  To be honest when I knew we'd be away this weekend, and I'd be out of my normal routine, and my normal workout routine, I get a little nervous.  Not that 2 or 3 days off of exercising altogether would be that big of a deal - but I love the way it makes me feel!  I don't want to skip that many days!  It's such a small part of my day that is so easy to achieve (logistically speaking - like I could do a workout in the hotel room with no equipment, very little room and very little time - for example, last night!)

So we got back from the park for the little guy to nap around 1:00pm and while everyone else, including my older son, was resting - mama set out to the gym.  Yes, I was tired!  Yes, I was hot!  But I knew I'd be so happy that I went...and that I certainly wouldn't feel like going in the evening time after a full day!  My workout was as follows:

Treadmill.  I set out to do 2 miles and was hoping for the best since I forgot my running shoes and only had my casual Pumas.

  • It turned out fine and I actually did 2.1 miles in 23 minutes, in these intervals (just to spice it up!):
    • 4 minutes running (6.0mph)/1 minute walking (4.0mph)
    • 3 minutes running/1 minute walking
    • 2 minutes running/1 minute walking
    • 2 minutes running/1 minute walking
    • 3 minutes running/1 minute walking
    • 4 minutes running
* Leg Raise & Dip Machine.  I love using this piece of equipment (but I very rarely get a chance to!).  It sounds funny to call it a 'machine' because it's more of a 'station', but either way!  Great for abs and hip flexors.
  • 3 supersets
    • 1st superset: 10 reps of leg lift (legs straight) + knees into chest (where 1 leg lift/lower + 1 knee in = 1 rep)
    • 2nd superset: 8 reps (where 1 leg lift/lower + 1 knee in = 1 rep)
    • 3rd superset: 6 reps (where 1 leg lift/lower + 1 knee in = 1 rep)
* Chest Press + Tricep Dips (using a flat bench).  I did the chest press using 15 lb dumbbells -  perfect weight for me because the last 2-3 reps of each set were definitely a struggle.  Dips I did off the side of the flat bench, with legs extended straight out and heels flexed.
  • 3 supersets
    • 15 reps of chest press + 10 tricep dips
* Bicep Curls.  Just to finish the workout I did bicep curls with 10 lb dumbbells.
  • 3 sets: I can't remember if I did 10 reps or 15 reps in each set! (Hello mommy brain!), so let's just say 12 and call it a day ;)
I left the gym sweaty and happy!  Such a great workout!

And one last thing...I was in the convenience store in the hotel and spotted these...Tina, are these the same ones you blogged about?? YUM!

Note to self: Think of something amazing, get on Shark Tank and make it big!!
What do you think?  Super brilliant idea, right?  I think so!

When you're at a hotel, business or pleasure, do you go to the hotel's gym?
Do you choose to just workout in the room? (And if so, what's your fav in-room, no-equipment exercise routine?)
Don't workout while you're away from home?

I'll be back tomorrow with more!
